Configure sessions in wizard

Race conditions/ Race Weekend

Race conditions (or now race weekends) are a set of sessions which consist out of a practice session, a warmup session, a qualifying and a race.

If a race condition entry has no sessions, the defaults from the track will be used.

You will need to upload an rfm file. Take a look at the provided “default.rfm” in the wizard folder. You can use that file if you want for it.

We need the rfm file as the file has a not really parseable syntax. Sorry!

Timed vs lap limited sessions

If you set a qualyfying session to be 15 minutes long without having laps set, APX will set the maximum amount of laps to the ingame limit of 255.

For practice sessions, the value set for laps will be ignored. Practice session will always be timed.

Warmup and practice sessions cannot have a limit of laps to be set.

If a race session has race finish criteria not set, it will use “laps” if laps are greater 0. You can explicitly set it using the race finish criteria field in the session options. Obviously, you cannot set a race finish criteria when editing a non-race session.

Race sessions

The wizard allows you to configure sessions with a certain lenght. The start field is the in-game session start time. Addtionally, you can configure the grip situation in the view. Please note that the field grip and grip needle exclude each other.

The file name identification with the grip needle field only works if the GDB file and the RRBIN file(s) are included in the same mas file.

If grip needle is set and a file with a suitable file name is found, the provided file of the grip field will be ignored. Grip needle can be either the full file name (upper-lowercase does not matter) or a part of it. Examples: If the provided file name is “SATURATED.RRBIN”, “saturated”, “saturated” or “SATURATED” will match the file.

You can also add the value “autosave” to use an existing :!: autosave file.

Grip needle examples

PatternDescription
foooUse a file matching foo from the track mas file. Can match “foo.rrbin”, “FOO.rrbin” or “FoO.rrbin” aswell.
heavy|saturated|autosaveMatch either heavy.rrbin or saturated.rrbin. If saturated.rrbin is the last match, use it. The preset will not only used, but will be stored as future autosave.rrbin. If the AutoSave.rrbin is existing, it won't bne overwritten
saturated|heavy|autosaveMatch either saturated.rrbin or heavy.rrbin. If heavy.rrbin is the last match, use it. The preset will not only used, but will be stored as future autosave.rrbin. If the AutoSave.rrbin is existing, it won't bne overwritten
saturated|heavyMatch either saturated.rrbin or heavy.rrbin. If heavy.rrbin is the last match, use it. The preset will be used instead of an autosave
autosaveUse the existing autosave.rrbin file

For advanced users: The grip needle can be a regular expression. For example, “heavy|saturated”, will match both heavy and saturated. Keep in mind that the last match will be actually used, in the example SATURATED.rrbin. The regex is applied on a lowercase transformed filename.

Aug 28 17:47:43 deploy.py:402 INFO [117148]: Session P1 will use preset grip file HEAVY.RRBIN, matched by regex heavy|saturated
Aug 28 17:47:43 deploy.py:402 INFO [117148]: Session P1 will use preset grip file SATURATED.RRBIN, matched by regex heavy|saturated

Where do I get these names from?

As the file names might differ from track to track, APX will write a log message with the names into the logfile (example is S397 Sebring):

This will only be done if you have sessions configured!
